'Boxing Up' is a 'talk for writing' strategy created by the brilliant Zeb Friedman, @springmaths, which enables pupils to self scaffold multi-step, 'functional' 'wordy' or AO3 problems. It removes the emphasis for both students and teachers from arriving at the correct answer
to an understanding of the thinking needed to arrive at the solution.The link below is to Zeb's case study, which describes how she came up with the strategy and how she embedded it into her teaching practice.

Zeb supported me to introduce 'Boxing Up' to the teachers and pupils in my department. We did this by holding a 'Big Launch' in which pupils trained each other in how to use the method. The links opposite are to the resources which I used with my team to introduce and embed 'Boxing Up' into departmental practice.
